Hi! My name is Brittney Wall. I attended SUNY Oneonta, and received an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education in 2013. I have certification in 1st through 6th grade education, and I taught 1st and 4th grade in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School District. I am patient, creative and hard working. My goal is to help inspire my students to love learning and to achieve their academic goals. With a positive, "can do" mindset we can surely make gains in subjects needing improvement. Looking forward to working with your child!
Hello, my name is Tamara and I am a certified teacher in Business, Finance, and Information Technology Education grades 6th-12th. I specialize in working with Pre K-5th grade Language Arts, which includes Vocabulary Development, Phonics, and Reading. I have worked as a Pre K & Kindergarten teacher for the YMCA Y Readers program and serve as a Reading Buddy Volunteer coordinator. I also specialize in tutoring students in business related topics grades 6-12th. I believe that reading is the foundation for all learning and literacy is the benchmark to all academic success. It's important to understand the child's individual needs and customize a plan from that point. I believe that each child is unique and special and needs time to adjust, comprehend, and to be successful in their own way. I’m committed to helping each of my students reach their full potential. I’m an interactive tutor and enjoy using technology and visual aids as an effective and enjoyable teaching tool.
Hello, my name is Brandon Palmer. Born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, I am a graduate of Miami University—with a bachelor’s degree in political science—and a lifelong public servant with nearly two decades of experience supporting our country’s present-day leaders in government and teaching its future leaders in academia. Essentially, I am the product of community members whose love/encouragement instilled in me the importance of academic excellence and classroom teachers whose competence/dedication blessed me with this wonderful opportunity to “pass it on.”
I’ve taught diverse classes of students for many years now, including a few stints teaching for residential/pre-college programs at Emory University (via Summer Institute for the Gifted) and UCLA. Dating back to my participating in Math Olympics in grade school, my excelling in AP Calculus in high school, and my testing out of calculus in college, I’ve always had a knack for mathematics—and for teaching it!
What’s more, I have a penchant for language arts: grammar, spelling, composition, style manual (MLA, APA, Chicago) adherence, and so forth. Writing is one of my dearest strengths, and given the importance of it in virtually every class/course and every workplace, I enjoy helping others become better writers; achieve better grades; and ultimately become better citizens (i.e., productive members of society).
Hello, I am Gail Vesely and I am a retired Mathematics Teacher and Department Chairperson from Baltimore County, Maryland. I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland (I am a Terrapin)) and my Master’s of Education Degree at Johns Hopkins University. My husband and I moved to Charlotte in 2005 to be closer to our daughter, who attended Elon University, so my teaching career ended after 35 years. I am now a loving Nana of two granddaughters ages 13 and 10.
I am highly qualified to teach mathematics K-12 here in North Carolina. I even came out of retirement to teach and tutor for Charlotte Mecklenburg School System. Because of technology I was able to work on line for the Maryland State Department of Education creating an on line Algebra and Data Analyst Course. My next job, I worked with a team of math teachers for Maryland Public Television and created a digital library called Mathlanding. The site was created to provide organized access to high quality resources and tools that support the teaching and learning of elementary mathematics.
The last 7 years have been the most rewarding for me by privately tutoring one on one with students in their homes. I help students to understand the why of mathematics, not just how to do the math problems. One parent calls me “The Math Angel” because I am kind, patient and provide unconditional support.
Looking forward to working with you and spending quality time with your child.
